Today, The Bakery Cafe is known not only for its quality food, accessibility and efficient service but also for accepting and employing deaf staff. Shyam Kakshapati, the Chairman of Nanglo International, got the inspiration to employ these deaf people, otherwise not considered eligible for work in most professional settings, after working with them at some public events. Their dedication and professionalism impressed him. In 1997 when he opened The Bakery Cafe at New he employed 12 young deaf people who had no previous work experience and certainly no training in the food and hospitality industry. Kakshapati himself trained them and says it has been one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences for him. Later more outlets began employing deaf staff and today The Bakery Cafe trains and employs 45 deaf staff.
